NARRATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY / RULE OF THIRDS1. Explain the narrative/story/emotion behind each photograph. In the first photograph, the story behind this photo is that Emma is in the middle of working on her watercolor painting. She is staring at this piece and trying to decide what she should do next. She also has her paint brush in her hand to indicating that she is in the middle of painting, but is in the middle of reflecting on what she is gonna do next. In the second photograph, the story behind this photo is that a girl is in the middle of practicing on the piano. With the sheet music, one is able to see that she is learning new music, as well as her hands are moving on the keys to show that she is in the middle of playing. 2. Describe how your photographs use the rule of thirds. Use detail. In the first photograph I used the rule of thirds by, having Emma on one side of the photograph, the actual painting off center, and then more paints and cabinets on the right side. In the second photograph, I used the rule of thirds by having the person in the bottom left corner, the piano keys in the center, and then the sheet music towards the top of the photograph.
3. How could you improve your photographs and/or what would you do differently? Explain using detail. I could improve my first photograph by getting a different angle so the art table isn't awkwardly in the photo. While in the second photo, I could've moved the lamp that is on top of the piano out of the way because it is awkwardly in the photo. I wouldn't do much else differently to these two photos because I like the idea behind them and I feel as though they both do tell a story.
